Online file transfer

Online file transfer, without the upload

Most "online file transfer" tools mean uploading to a server first. FileTransferX moves files directly between two devices instead — open a tab, pair with a code, and send.

How it’s different from a typical file-sharing site

Upload-based transfer services put your file on their storage while a recipient downloads it — sometimes for days afterward. FileTransferX pairs your device with the recipient’s directly using a QR code or short transfer code, and the file moves between the two rather than sitting on a server in between.

That means no waiting for an upload to finish before a download can start, no account needed for direct P2P transfers, and nothing left over once the transfer is done. If your network requires a relay connection, a free account is all you need.

Upload-based transfer vs. direct transfer

Typical "online file transfer" site FileTransferX
Wait before recipient can download Until your upload finishes None — it streams as it sends
Where the file sits On their server, until claimed Nowhere — device to device
Account needed Often, past a small size Not for P2P; free account for relay
After the transfer Link stays live for days Nothing left to delete

Everything included

01

Direct Device Transfer

Attempts a direct peer-to-peer connection, so files can move straight between devices.

02

QR + Transfer Code

Scan a QR code when it is convenient, or type a short code by hand.

03

No Installation

Runs directly in a modern browser tab. Nothing to download.

04

No Account for P2P

Direct peer-to-peer transfers are completely free with no signup. Only relay-assisted transfers on restrictive networks need a free account.

05

Large File Support

The transfer engine is built around chunked data transfer, not loading whole files into memory.

06

Cross-Device

Designed for phones, tablets, laptops, and desktops alike.

07

Transfer Progress

See live speed, percentage, file size, and status while a transfer runs.

08

Connection Fallback

Falls back to a secure relay when a direct peer-to-peer connection is not possible. Relay transfers require a free account so we can manage usage fairly.
